Zollverein – Action Installations

The conference ‘Unter Falscher Flagge’ (26-28 july 2015) dealt with temporal, ephemeral and performance art and was organised by Medienwerk nrw & Hartware MedienKunstVerein, who had invited artist Balz Isler who in his turn invited me to intervene at the conference. Amongst our actions was this; I built an installation during one of the panel talks without anyone noticing. When the public came out, they were confronted with it. The video shows the creation of the installation, the reactions of the public, and the killing of the installation.

Another action comprised of building a big installation outside during one of the panel talks without anyone noticing. This was in an outside space where people gathered to eat and drink during the breaks. When the public came down, they were confronted with a screen, hanging in the middle of the foyer, showing a video-loop with the process of building the big installation. At the same time, in the background, the same space could be seen, but without the installation. The video below shows the creation of the installation, photo’s of the installation, then the subsequent killing of the installation, and it ends with a shot of the situation with the screen, including a work by Balz Isler.
